Jackie Quidort ’14 studied communications during her time at Elizabethtown College. Jackie has a passion for travel and chose to study abroad in Cheltenham, England, where she met her now-husband. Five years later, she has taken the time to reflect on her study abroad experience.
Jackie was abroad for three months. The months spent in the UK have influenced her life every day since. Upon arriving in England, she could not believe how beautiful the country was. During the first few weeks, she met the other Americans and they all quickly bonded over travel plans and being abroad. One of these ladies stayed lifelong friends with Jackie and even served as her bridesmaid!
While abroad, Jackie had the chance to travel throughout Europe, including Florence, Italy; Paris, France; Dublin, Ireland and London, England. During this time, she also met the freshman next door who is now her husband.
Adapting to the British lifestyle was not a problem for Jackie. She loved the extra “u” in words, the ever beautiful English accent, and couldn’t get enough of cream and scones.
Studying abroad led Jackie to pursue her passion by returning to the University of Gloucestershire to pursue her masters in photography. Since then, she has been to 20 countries and worked for a study abroad company. Besides career and love opportunities, studying abroad taught Jackie how to go with the flow, have faith, and go out of her comfort zone.
